6. A big welcome to CHARA’s inaugural interns!

CHARA funded two intern positions in order to generate awareness and identify opportunities for continued involvement and support on campus. Thank you donors!

Naomi De Haza is a sophomore, BSU chair, multi-cultural peer educator, and former student of Fred Givens. She hopes to encourage collaboration with the BSU, promote diversity, and educate others on racism.

Naomi feels that we need to make people understand why it’s so important to have conversations about racism and also help HC understand what it needs to address.

Catherine “Katie” Buhse is a senior studying English, education, and peace and conflict. She is involved in the Feminist Forum and is a SPUD program director and a study abroad ambassador.

Katherine hopes to raise student and alumni awareness of CHARA and increase CHARA’s involvement on campus.

CHARA’s current top priorities:

01. Mentorship program

  • Identify and enroll student mentees (Katie and Naomi will help)

  • 10 alumni mentors are enrolled currently from healthcare, education, marketing/communication and more.
Here’s the link to volunteer to be a mentor: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V78M3YJ

  • It is time to collect 60 - 90-second videos from mentors.

02. Launch ambassadors

  • ambassadors will meet together and also work independently to share thoughts

  • ambassadors will help identify organization contacts and different groups/distribution channels where CHARA can offer support

  • CHARA will introduce ambassadors to its committees
